Jalisco state prosecutor said Monday that local, state and federal authorities, including marines and soldiers, joined in the operation while investigators reviewed surveillance camera footage for clues.
Prosecutors in the western state of Jalisco said two SUVs carrying an unknown number of gunmen arrived around 1 a.m. at the La Leche restaurant on the city's main boulevard.
According to initial reports, a group of armed men targeted about 20 people in the restaurant “La Leche.”
The first suspect charged in the kidnapping of Alan Pulido has given a statement to prosecutors confessing to the crime.
Pulido was abducted late Saturday by four gunmen who were demanding US$325,000, then about 24 hours later he found himself alone with one of his captors and saw his chance.
The incident happened in Tamaulipas, is an especially violent area of Mexico.
