After becoming a soloist dancer at the English National Ballet and winning the Benois de la Danse award last June , Isaac Hernández has claimed that he wants to uplift fine arts in the country and assist in the promotion of Mexican culture around the world . In an interview, the dancer revealed his intention to present a project in the country’s capital in six months time, stating that “it will be the most ambitious project I have ever worked on.”
“Right now I am in the middle of a bureaucratic process to form our initiative’s federation in Mexico. I think this will be the greatest project of my life because it is huge and very ambitious, but at the same time, very exciting. I have been able to follow up close the impact of creative industries in British economy, which is one of the fastest-growing economies in the world. In Mexico, we have not even considered quantifying the impact of our creative industries, which have great potential in cinema, fashion, design, and the fine arts,” he commented.
With this project, Hernández hopes to promote arts so that they may have the same impact they’ve had in other parts of the world. “We want to promote and develop Mexican talent through an industry that has the potential to boost Mexican economy and constitute a fundamental tool in the transformation of the country and the restructuring of the social fabric . It is a very ambitious project because it goes beyond dance and theater, and I think it has the potential to transform the way culture is produced. I hope to share the details of this project with the press somewhere around March .”
Considered to be one of the best dancers worldwide, Isaac has just launched his campaign “Chingones Hasta en la Muerte,” which roughly translates to “Badass Even in Death” in cooperation with Victoria beer . The campaign consist of a reinterpretation of the journey to Mictlán , the underworld of the Aztecs, musicalized with a special version of “ La Llorona ” ( The Weeping Woman ) made by Geo Meneses and Banda Bastón . It will be broadcast on national television, digital platforms and movie theaters in Mexico. The dancer pointed out that it was important to use art to communicate with society.
“My dad made it very clear to me when I was a child: One of the greatest privileges we have as human beings is the capacity of doing something for another person , and you can do that in many different ways. Simply by setting a good example, leading a life with purpose, initiative, and creativity, you can inspire young people to change. More than a responsibility, it is a privilege that cannot be missed.”
