Xochitla comes from the náhuatl, "flowery place", the term was used in Pre-Hispanic times to refer to the gardens kept inside houses.
Xochitla Foundation was created in 1988 with the aim to preserve and maintain a vital ecological area of recovery: Xochitla Ecological Park.
Originally a dairy ranch and later a sports club, Xochitla became an ecological park in 1988.
