Junior high school student Kenneth González
from Motozintla, Chiapas , traveled to the Space Center University to be trained by NASA engineers in the U.S. for an entire week.
Kenneth traveled to Houston, Texas, in company of his teacher José Esteban García , who had received an invitation to attend the NASA courses two years ago, but had to delay his trip due to a lack of resources.
The mayor of Motozintla, Jorge Villatoro , paid for their travel expenses. Kenneth and his teacher, from the Juan Escutia 1030 school in Motozintla, have told local media that they would share the knowledge and experiences acquired with the rest of the school upon their return to the country.
Pictures circulating in social media show the Mexican student with his “Mam,” a traditional outfit of the region. Kenneth can also be seen participating in educational activities with students from other countries.
Space Center is an immersive learning center for science and space exploration. It features more than 400 space artifacts, both permanent and temporary exhibitions, as well as theaters that show the future of space exploration.
