The U.S. will begin the construction of the border wall in January 2019 . The construction will begin with a 256 kilometer-long section in the Mexico-Texas border after President Trump assigned several contracts to companies to build the wall .

Trump

himself made the announcement himself on Tuesday, insisting that the government shutdown will continue until the Democrats authorize the budget he has requested to fund the controversial wall .

“I can't say when will the Government will open. I can say that it won't be open until we have a wall, a barrier, whatever you wanna call it,” said the U.S. President , who revealed he expects to finish the construction of the wall in the Mexico-U.S. border at the end of his term.

Trump

contradicted his previous affirmations when he claimed the strengthening of border surveillance is giving positive results, by claiming the border is out of control and argue the need to build a wall .

He insisted that besides drugs , his government is facing issues such as human trafficking and undocumented migration , and he accused, once again, the migrants of being a danger for national security.

“I don't want them in the country. The only way to achieve this is with a physical barrier, a wall, if we don't have it, then we won't open (the government),” he said before a group of journalists that were in the Oval Office to cover a phone call where he wished the Armed Forces a merry Christmas .

The U.S. President also revealed that he will travel to Texas in January to inaugurate the construction of a section of the wall , which he anticipated, could be the largest one so far.

Trump

said he was excited about the new border-wall section, and claimed that “while we're fighting for funds, we are building.”

Trump explained that although Congress approved USD $25,000 million for border security and some funds for the wall , “we want the money for the wall to increase because I want to finish it.”
