UNAM, ITESM, and IPN: Best universities in Mexico

According to the QS qualifier, UNAM is in the 113th position, while ITESM ranks 178th worldwide

According to a 2019 University Ranking issued by the international qualifier Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) , the best universities of Mexico are: the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), the Monterrey Institute of Technology (ITESM), the National Polytechnic Institute (IPN), the Autonomous Metropolitan University (UAM), and the Ibero-American University .

“Both UNAM and ITESM obtained high scores on all indicators of this year’s ranking, due to their academic reputation,” claimed the company.

. According to the QS qualifier, UNAM is in the 113th position, while the Monterrey Institute of Technology ranks 178th worldwide .

In 2012 , the National Autonomous University of Mexico was in the 146th position worldwide, downgrading to the 175th spot in 2015 . However, in only four years time, it has climbed up 62 positions .

UNAM is the largest education institution in Latin America , and in 2005 , it was considered to be the best in the region . If one takes into account their high school system, it has over 269 thousand students , which makes it one of the largest universities in the world,” claimed QS.

“UNAM is the only university in Mexico that has three Nobel Prize winners: Alfonso García Robles (Nobel Peace Prize), Octavio Paz (Literature), and Mario Molina (Chemistry) . On the other hand, the Monterrey Institute of Technology has climbed up 128 positions since 2012, and ranked 40 in student employability in 2017 , since 94% of their students had a job one year after graduating.”

The ranking published by QS also included the Autonomous Technology Institute of Mexico (ITAM) , the University of Guadalajara (UdG) , the Autonomous University of Nuevo León (UANL) , the University of the Americas in Puebla (UDLA), and the Anáhuac University .

The regional ranking is focused on five basic criteria: The impact and productivity of their investigations, the commitment of teachers, graduate employability, Internet impact, and internationalization.
