Do you have a pet but are not sure how to protect it from the heat wave that has struck most of the Mexican territory? Today we bring you a list of recommendations that can help your little hairy friend survive.
The government of Mexico City has offered some tips such as:
1- Walk your pet at a time when the heat is less intense.
2- Under no circumstances should you leave your creature in the car, not even in the shade, nor should you leave it tied down outside your home or in a rooftop.
3- Refresh your friend with a bath and make sure that it stays hydrated.
4- Leave your pet to rest in a cool, shaded environment.
5- Trim its hair, though not too much because it is meant to protect them from sunburns.
6- Avoid sudden temperature changes if you have fish or reptiles.
7- Take it to the vet if it has vomiting or diarrhea.
How to tell if your pet is suffering from heat exhaustion?
1- It pants rapidly and intensely.
2- Its footpads are humid.
3- It seems aloof.
4- It can’t walk in a straight line.
What to do if your pet is suffering from heat exhaustion?
1- Put their paws in water.
2- Place a damp cloth on their nose or in another hairless area.
3- Give it water and lower its body temperature gradually. Do NOT use ice water.
