The tropical storm Rosa has just hit the state of Baja California Sur shortly after weather reports confirmed that it had downgraded. Local authorities issued a green alert for prevention and avoidance due to the potential of tropical storms in the northern territory.

In the meantime, the tropical storm Sergio is approaching 544 miles off the shores of Colima and moving towards the Pacific, according to the National Meteorologic Service (SMN) .

The National System of Civil Protection issued a yellow alert -for moderate danger and preparation- in southern Baja California as well as east and north of Sonora , anticipating rains of between 75 and 150 millimeters due to the presence of Rosa.

Should the storm maintain its current trajectory, it is expected to hit land someplace in the neighboring state, although the storm weakened on Monday afternoon. Authorities from Baja California Sur have ordered the closure of ports in the Pacific coast .

The state governor, Carlos Mendoza Davis , indicated that they would maintain a close surveillance of the phenomenon and that the government would work in close contact with the upcoming municipal administrations so that they became familiarized with the protocol, the fitting of shelters, and everything that may be required, especially in the north, where the forecast has shown the largest precipitations.

The tropical storm Rosa hit land at approximately 04:30 hours this morning, 34 miles northeast of San José de las Palomas in the state of Baja California.

In their most recent report, the National Meteorologic Service (SMN) indicated that at 07:00 hours, Rosa struck land 31 miles south of the San Luis Island in Baja California , with sustained maximum winds of 34 miles per hour .

Both the Rosa and the Sergio storm are expected to affect the areas of Puebla, Veracruz, Oaxaca, Chiapas , with heavy storms in the states of Sonora, Sinaloa, Nayarit, Jalisco, Colima, Michoacán, Guerrero, San Luis Potosí, Querétaro, Hidalgo, Tamaulipas, Tabasco and Campeche . Local storms were forecast for Baja California, Chihuahua, Coahuila, Nuevo León, Durango, Guanajuato, Yucatán, and Quintana Roo .

Furthermore, the Service indicated that heavy rains will strike the areas of Baja California Sur, Zacatecas, Aguascalientes, the State of Mexico, Mexico City, Morelos, and Tlaxcala .
