The Tamal and Atole Festival is coming to Xochitla!

The Xochitla ecological park is getting ready for its Tamal and Atole Festival ! You will be able to enjoy delicious tamales and atoles from February 2 to February 4 to celebrate Candlemas .

The festival will offer all sorts of tamales and pinole, cranberry, and amaranth atoles .

are cooked all over the continent but it's said that there are 500 different versions in Mexico . Originally, tamales were eaten during religious rituals , offerings, and even during funerals.

Mexico

's large variety includes Ayocote from Puebla , which is made using beans; in Oaxaca they add grasshoppers and black mole ; in Michoacán , one of the most traditional tamales is made with squash blossom, corn smut (huitlacoche) , and cotija cheese , but there also are sweet versions such as strawberry, pineapple, chocolate , and nuts.

Cooks will also make Zacahuil , a large tamal cooked in an underground oven.

Xochitla 

is an ecological park located 60 minutes away from Mexico City and it offers a large variety of activities and attractions.

Besides enjoying the delicious tamales and atoles , the park offers several attractions such as mini golf , boats, a playground, among many other activities.
