Apart from its particularly delicious taste, the true charm of “ ramen ” lies in the sound it produces when ramen noodles are slurped. The Japanese have an onomatopoeia for that specific sound and the feeling it produces: zuru zuru ( ズルズル ), which reminds them of the essence of this dish.
Come join the celebration of Japanese ramen at the second edition of the Mexico City Ramen Festival , which will be held on October 6 and 7 at the Mexico-Japan Association . You’ll be able to taste all kinds of ramen and accompany it with sake and Japanese beer .
In addition to the ramen tastings, you will also be able to visit the Ramen Museum and know about the proper way to eat ramen. There will also be an exhibition about donburi , a Japanese dish which consists of a rice bowl accompanied by vegetables and meat.
The festival will be divided into three sections: Zuru, zuru , where you’ll be able to eat ramen and other dishes; Yopparai , where guests will have a toast with sake and Japanese beer, and the Ramen Museum .
Tickets are already available with a pre-sale cost of $80 pesos , though they will also be available on the day of the event at a price of MXN$110 . Children under one meter tall will be able to enjoy it for free.
