Russia is guest of honor at Book Fair in Yucatán

Russia will participate in the fair with conferences, book presentations, and more

Yesterday, during the presentation of the Yucatán International Book Fair (FILEY), the ambassador of the Russian Federation to Mexico, Eduard Malayán , stated the culture of his country will converge with Mexican culture in an event that has Russia and Guanajuato as guests of honor.

“We will work together, we will help each other, we will build bridges, and we will strengthen these bridges not only for the mutual interest of Mexico and Russia but for international knowledge,” said the ambassador.

According to Malayán, Russia will participate in conferences, master classes, book presentations with the authors, artistic shows, and even a presentation of the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

For its part, Guanajuato will contribute with material on Gastronomy and Literature.

Among the Russian scholars, researchers, and writers invited to the event are Dolgova Evgenia, Ivan Kosichenko, Ksenia Yanasheva, Marina Polevaya, Nadzhda Evelianova, and Ritta Olegovna Kozunova, among others Latin American writers such as César Aira, Amalia Andrade and Mexican author, Laura Esquivel.

The Yucatán International Book Fair will run from March 10 to 18 at the Siglo XXI Convention and Exhibition Center of Yucatán, in Mérida.

Other guests include Joselo Rangel of the band Café Tacvba and the winner of the 2017 Art and Literature Award, Alberto Ruy Sánchez.
