Mexico’s Senate granted the 2019 Belisario Domínguez Medal to Rosario Ibarra de Piedra in recognition of her “relentless fight and activism for political prisoners, disappeared, and exiled persons. ”
Senator Belisario Domínguez , from Chiapas, was murdered on October 7, 1913 , at the behest of Victoriano Huerta and in his memory, this medal with his name is granted and must be presented in a solemn session with the presence of the three powers of the Republic .
The ceremony of presentation of the medal to Rosario Ibarra de Piedra , who is in very delicate health, took place this Wednesday, October 23 , in the senatorial venue of Xicoténcatl.
The medal was presented to Rosario Piedra Ibarra in representation of Rosario Ibarra de Piedra for her fight as an activist in the search of missing persons .
