The President won’t slow down amid COVID-19 fears
We’ve been told that after President López Obrado r was widely criticized for shaking hands, hugging, and kissing his supporters during a visit to Guerrero , the President decided not to cancel the public events scheduled for this weekend, although they might not be too large. We’ve been told that that the events scheduled for March 18 and March 21 will take place. We’ll see if the President gives fewer handshakes , kisses , and hugs .

Reelection is a priority for Morena
In a private conversation, an opposition lawmaker said that “Several lawmakers don’t want to attend tomorrow’s sessions. It’s irresponsible , we are 5,000 families exposed but Morena wants to approve an electoral reform .” The comment was made after lawmakers scheduled sessions for Wednesday and Thursday despite the COVID-19 pandemic . We’ve been told that although the politicians are set to discuss several topics, Morena’s real interest is to approve reelection rules since the deadline is set for May and it the COVID-19 crisis worsens, it might put the reelection of lawmakers and senators at risk. We’ve been told that although the opposition skips work, if there are enough people, Morena will carry on. So reelection is the number one priority now.

The CNTE vs the President
We’ve been told that the civility agreement between President López Obrador and the CNTE is at risk. The reason? The teacher’s union considers that one year after they started to negotiate to reinstall the teachers who had been fired, payments, social security, political prisoners, among others; however, not all the demands have been fulfilled. Yesterday, during a blockade outside the National Palace , teachers threatened to radicalize their actions. So they have said that until all their demands are fulfilled, they will follow the President wherever he goes.

The PAN sues the Health Minister

members are angry at the low-profile maintained by Health Minister Jorge Alcocer Varela , in the face of the COVID-19 crisis. They were so angry that they filed a lawsuit for “ attempted murder .” According to the PAN, health authorities are not implementing the necessary measures to face a national emergency . The thing is the lawsuit will likely be dismissed and might actually backfire , as the PAN will be criticized for political opportunism in the times of pandemic .
