New cold front looms over Mexican territory

Temperatures in the mountain ranges of Sonora, Chihuahua, Coahuila, and Durango will drop to -5°C

In face of a third winter storm coming to Mexico , the National Water Commission (CONAGUA) , has forecast cold weather in the northern part of the country with the possibility of snow and sleet falling in the mountainous areas of Chihuahua and northeast Coahuila . Citizens are recommended to take precautions.

Through a press release, the government body warned that it would rain in the states of Chihuahua, Coahuila, Durango, San Luis Potosí, Querétaro, Hidalgo, Puebla, Veracruz, Oaxaca, Tabasco, and Campeche .

On Wednesday morning, CONAGUA forecast a cold front extending over the southeast of the United States , moving towards the Gulf of Mexico . Starting on Thursday, the mass of polar air would lower temperatures in most of the Mexican territory.

CONAGUA warned that temperatures in the mountain ranges of Sonora, Chihuahua, Coahuila, and Durango would drop to -5°C , while the temperature in mountainous areas of Baja California, Nuevo León, Zacatecas, Aguascalientes, San Luis Potosí, Jalisco, Guanajuato, Puebla, and the State of Mexico would fall between -5 and 0°C . In the foothill areas of Baja California Sur, Michoacán, Oaxaca, Morelos, Querétaro, Hidalgo, Tlaxcala, Tamaulipas, and Mexico City, temperatures will fall between 0 and 5°C.
