Beer brewing company Fortuna originated in Guadalajara, Jalisco . The company’s mission is to produce beverages using traditional, high-value beer ingredients: water, malt, hop, and yeast, constantly improving their product to create unique flavors.
Such is the case of Fortuna’s newest product proposal, a beer that takes inspiration from the traditional Japanese drink: Sake . In order to make the new product, the company conducted tests that tried mixing both drinks to obtain an appealing combination of beer and sake, however, the properties of each product didn’t allow for that to happen. After that, Fortuna decided to endow its beer with certain ingredients that gave it the right touch to evoke the Japanese drink.
“We have combined the best of both worlds! At Fortuna, we created the first 100% Mexican beer, made with sake yeast and Japanese hop Sorachi Ace. Ideal to accompany Japanese food!,” the company tweeted on 9 March.
Sake Ale is a unique beer with a yellow-gold bright color, white foam, and a medium body. It has a floral aroma and a soft bitter taste with reminiscences of wood that gives a similar sensation to that of Japanese sake.
This beverage is already available in a 355 ml presentation, perfect to combine with dishes of Japanese cuisine, such as sushi , ramen , or yakimeshi . If you’re interested in experimenting with a taste of Japan, this is a great option for you.
