Netflix to compete at Academy Awards with “Roma”

Netflix could even compete in some of the major categories with Alfonso Cuarón's "Roma"

Though a lot has been said in the past few weeks about the possibility of “Roma,” Alfonso Cuarón ’s latest film, competing in the upcoming Academy Awards , rumors suggest that Netflix could even compete in some of the major categories.

However, this is not the first time that a streaming company reaches the Oscar nomination ceremony . Little by little, companies such as Amazon Studio and Netflix have caught the attention of film festivals around the world with some major productions such as “Beasts of no Nation” (2015), “Winter on Fire: Ukraine’s Fight for Freedom” (2016), and “Mudbound” (2018) .
