Netflix to open new headquarters in Mexico

Netflix will produce four films in Mexico, which will be launched within the next two years

, the leading media-services provider, has decided to bet on Mexican talent with more than 50 projects that will be produced in Mexico between 2019 and 2020 , including both original content and co-productions. Furthermore, the American company announced that they would open new headquarters in Mexico this year.

During the Netflix Forum in Mexico , Ted Sarandos , the executive director of Online Service Content , met with members of Mexico’s creative community to discuss the importance of the Latin American country in the world of entertainment.

“The wealth of Mexican talent, both in front and behind the cameras, was a key factor in the decision we took four years ago when we began producing original content on an international scale, starting with Club de Cuervos . Ever since, we have continued to expand our investment and provide a platform so that Mexican talent can continue to grow and be recognized worldwide,” he concluded.

Netflix

announced the production of four movies in Mexico, which will be launched on the online platform within the next two years.

Some of the projects are: Como caído del cielo (As if he fell from heaven), a musical comedy inspired by the songs of the iconic Mexican singer Pedro Infante, starring Omar Chaparro, written and directed by Pepe Bojórquez; Fondeados , Marcos Bucay’s debut as director and screenwriter; Se busca papá (Dad Wanted), produced by Corazón Films, and Ahí te encargo (Just so you know), which seeks to offer a modern look into the romantic comedy genre, written by Leonardo Zimbrón and Tiaré Scanda.
