Mysterious reggaeton for AMLO
Quite controversial during electoral times was the reggaeton of the singer "Niña Bien", who in the lyrics of her song asks people to vote for “You know Who.” A version of the origin of the video, which can found on social networks, is that it came from the ranks of the left National Regeneration Party (MORENA), the party of Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) . Later, we're told that another version was told: that the video was a production of the students of the Western Institue of Technology and Higher Education, in Guadalajara, as a project for a school assignment. However, the Jesuit institution has stated it has nothing to do with either the content or the production. There is one fact, we're told, that could lead to the authors: the video was made in Mexico City. Oh, but AMLO's team has also claimed to have nothing to do with the song. Then who was behind it?
Anaya recycles Fox supporters
Our sources say that a few days after the start of the campaign, at the headquarters of Ricardo Anaya , his team is already taking shape, it seems, with the return of several Vicente Fox supporters. We're told that Anaya's generals may include former Chancellor Jorge Castañeda ; the former Ministers of the Interior, Santiago Creel and Agustín Basave , who was also a collaborator of Luis Donaldo Colosio and, most recently, the national leader of the left Democratic Revolution Party (PRD). We're told that another one who might become the communications manager is Rubén Aguilar , who was Vicente Fox's spokesman, and who will work closely with Fernando Rodriguez, current spokesman of the National Executive Committee of the conservative National Action Party (PAN), who has been tasked, specifically, with the messages of the candidate. It's also possible that Xóchitl Gálvez – former manager of the relations with the indigenous people under the Fox administration – returns to reprise her role, and that the aspiring PAN candidate to the Presidency, Juan Carlos Romero Hicks , also close to Fox, will be in charge of the Education and Sciences agenda. Furthermore, our sources say Senator Marcela Torres Peimbert will be in charge of the Gender Equality agenda. And these could be some of the men and women who Anaya will enlist to fight Andrés Manuel López Obrador and José Antonio Meade over the Presidency.
How much is the teacher's union worth for Meade?
For the first time, the presidential candidate of the PRI-PVEM-PANAL coalition, José Antonio Meade , and the Secretary-General of the National Teachers' Union (SNTE) Juan Díaz de la Torre, met at a political event yesterday in Mexico City, where the leader of the teachers and political advisor of the center-right New Alliance Party (PANAL) claimed to fully support Meade as President of Mexico. The leader of the teachers made it quite clear that they support the education reform and, thus, the economic benefits involved in the teachers' training. However, the question is how many teachers – and specifically how many votes – is the SNTE worth when the former national leader and her agents are trying to take the votes in favor of Andrés Manuel López Obrador, of the left National Regeneration Party (MORENA)?
Just one ticket for the Pinos team
We're told that Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto decided to politically support one of the members of his inner circle in Los Pinos. Who? It seems Francisco Guzmán , chief of the Presidential Office and former coordinator of the President's advisors, will be the replacement of Miguel Ángel Osorio, former Ministry of the Interior, in the national list of the center-right Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) for the Upper Chamber. Frank – as he is called – has worked beside Peña Nieto since 2005, when he was barely 25 years old. On the way to the Senate, other characters were left in the way, despite having experience in the Legislative Branch.
