Mexico women’s soccer

now mourns the murder of Marbella Ibarra , one of its leading promoters who had gone missing for a month. Her body was found last Tuesday in the state of Baja California .

Marbella believed in the project of Women’s soccer in the country way before it became a reality. In 2014 , out of her own pocket, she proposed the management board of Xolos of Tijuana to create a women soccer team. A few days later, she was given the green light and the story began.

Through the years, she helped numerous players find their place in the Mexican Women’s Soccer League . Many of them have shown their condolences through social media, including her niece, Fabiola Ibarra, who currently plays with the Atlas F.C. Women’s Team .

“It pains me to know that you are no longer with us, and I will cherish every moment I have lived with you, as well as everything you did for me, for the rest of my life. I am forever grateful. You are the best friend, aunt, and coach that I ever had, and I love you very much,” wrote the forward player of Atlas on her Twitter account.
