Mexico wins 5 medals at World Cheese Awards

Several Mexican restaurants were ranked best in Latin America last month and now the World Cheese Awards 2018 has decorated Mexican cheeses who have made an excellent impression worldwide.

The event broke its attendance record, offering 3,500 cheeses from all over the world. Mexican cheese makers even had an opportunity to compete with France , a country known for its expertise in the field.

The event was held on November 2 in Bergen . A qualified jury comprising 230 cheese experts from different countries was used to select the best cheeses in the world.

This year, the best cheese award went to Norway , with a type of Gouda cheese that is produced in a small farm. As for Mexican cheeses, the winners were:

1- Colli: Won a silver medal

2- Casa de Piedra Gran Reserva Cheese: Won a silver medal

3- Navarro Aged Cheddar: Won a bronze medal

4- Añejo de los Altos Cheese: Won a gold medal

5- Navarro Mexican Manchego: Won a silver medal

The top 10 spots went to Norway, France, Sweden, Italy, Spain, Denmark, South Africa, the United Kingdom, and Israel .
