At a loading point in Culiacán, Sinaloa , agents from the Ministry of the Navy (SEMAR) seized approximately 10 tons of drugs stored in bags and around 317 gallons of highly pure crystal methamphetamine in plastic containers, as well as a turning vehicle, stated the federal body.
The finding, according to the Mexican Navy, came after a technical intelligence investigation informed that a delivery of synthetic drug would take place in the town of Los Cedros, Culiacán .
“During the operation, we used land units so that the marines could approach the area, which is located in the Sinaloa mountain range. There, our agents were able to seize batches of both solid and liquid crystal methamphetamine , which were stored in bags and plastic containers,” the Ministry told through a press release.
The report indicated that the navy agents seized the vehicle and neutralized the loading point by incinerating the drug.
This is SEMAR’s second strike against drug cartels in Sinaloa in less than one week. On Friday, August 17 , in the Alcoyonqui municipality, 19 kilometers outside the state capital , a clandestine laboratory was neutralized, along with two underground storehouses that contained around 50 tons of synthetic drugs , making it the largest seize in the history of Mexico’s drug war.
On this occasion, the government body stated that navy elements had found the laboratory thanks to intelligence reports, and explained that the drug had been stored in bottles and drums. Chemical equipment for the elaboration of crystal methamphetamine was also found on site.
According to the Navy’s report, until last week, around five tons of several psychotropic substances (cocaine, marijuana, etc) had also been seized.
