Mexico
fell two spots in the World Bank's 2018 Doing Business report , which compares business regulation environments across economies and encourages them to compete towards a more efficient regulation.
According to the report, Mexico ranked 49th out of the 190 countries analyzed, while last year it was listed on the 47th.
However, Mexico ranked 72.27 , that is, 0.18 points more than in 2016 .
Mexico improved its rating in opening companies, obtaining construction permits and electricity efficiency, while there was a considerable setback in public registration of property, payment of taxes and resolution of insolvency.
Despite losing two spots, Mexico is the best-positioned economy in Latin America above Chile , Peru , Colombia , Costa Rica , Argentina , and Brazil .
The Doing Business project, launched in 2002 , provides objective measures of business regulations and their enforcement across 190 economies and selected cities at the subnational and regional level.
It looks at domestic small and medium-size companies and measures the regulations applying to them through their life cycle.
