In order to celebrate Saint Patrick's Day, Tourism Ireland created “Global Greening” , a celebration where dozens of countries light up their most iconic monuments with a green light in honor of Ireland .

Tourism Ireland 

announced that in 2019 , Mexico would join the initiative, along with 300 countries.

In Mexico City , the Angel of the Independence was light up from March 11 to 17; the Revolution Monument , the Palm roundabout, and Colón Monument, and the Diana Cazadora monument will be light up on March 17 at 7 P.M.

Monuments in Puebla , Guadalajara , and Playa del Carmen will also be light up.

Saint Patrick's Day

is celebrated on March 17. In Mexico , it has been celebrated for many years to honor the Saint Patrick's Battalion , who fought along the Mexican army in the war between Mexico and the U.S. in 1846 .

Cultural organizations and pubs offer different activities to celebrate Ireland in Mexico City .
