On January 1, 2006 , the sports world stood in shock. During an uneventful game between the Cardinals and the Colts , Rolando Cantú became the first Mexican football player (trained in Mexico) to play in the NFL.

More than a decade after Cantú participated as linebacker during overtime, Hall of Fame member Rod Woodson set out to find and train the next Mexican player to play in the Football League.

“Last year, I had the opportunity to visit Mexico and I was surprised by how much Mexicans love this game. I will not rest until I see another Mexican player in the NFL ,” claimed Woodson, former tailback of the Steelers from Pittsburgh .

To this end, Woodson will be assisted by the Pro Football Hall of Fame , which is responsible for detecting and training young talents in Europe, China, and Mexico , as well as gathering the best high school players in the United States and preparing them to enter some of the country’s most prestigious universities.

As part of the celebrations for the World Bowl 2018 , the Hall Of Fame will gather the top 75 high school players at the Blue Stadium on December 22 , 10 of which are from outside the United States.

One of these foreigners is Alonso Guerrero, a player from the CCH Sur high school in Mexico City .

Tickets for the high school playoffs will be on sale starting November 1 , with prices ranging from 250 to 500 pesos ( USD$13-USD$26 ).

American Football continues to grow in the country. On November 19 , the second Monday Night will be celebrated at the Azteca Stadium .
