Mexican students to represent Mexico in robotics contest

Students from the National Polytechnic Institute (IPN) will represent Mexico at First Tech Challenge , a robotics competition that will be held in Houston, Texa s, from April 15 to 21.

The team, Donk Pink , made up by students from the Center of Scientific and Technological Studies (CECyT9) , got their pass to the world cup after facing 24 groups from several educational institutions on January 21.

In a statement, the IPN said that the students from the Programming, Digital Systems , and Machines with Automated Systems programs perfected a robot that led them to win the competition.

The students implemented a methodology developed by the NASA , which strengthened the engineering tests, mechanics, programming, business administration , and electronics , said Nadia Salinas Hernández .

Jorge Alvarado Ramos

said that the national stage was his first experience in this type of contests , which goes beyond building a robot because it is liking building a company.

“We didn't think we would get that far, but as the process went on, our spirit grew and we put more effort and soul. Now we are here and we believe that we are going to go even further," he said.

Franco Durán Rivera

explained that they will travel to the United States to showcase the IPN students' talents and scientific capacities .
