A group of specialists from Mexico’s Research Center in Food and Development (CIAD) have created a special ice cream with probiotics that can help improve digestive health. Furthermore, it can improve calcium absorption and diminish symptoms of ulcerative colitis.
The new ice cream called Saludatto has shown positive results in laboratory tests with live mice.
Gabriela Ramos Clamont Montfort
, a researcher at CIAD’s Food Science Coordination and member of Mexico’s National Council for Science and Technology (CONACYT) , was behind this technology development.
She confirmed that this new product would result in health benefits for both children and adults.
The specialist pointed out that, following her team’s participation in a cohort at the Binational North-West Node (NoBi) , she had identified some of the Mexican population’s most pressing needs regarding digestive health.
In cooperation with students and entrepreneurs, the scientist now seeks to develop a business model so that she can introduce her technology in the market.
