Mexico's Office of the Attorney General (PGR) announced it is currently investigating the explosion of the ferry in Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo , which left 26 people wounded last February 21.
The Office of the Attorney General states that agents from the Criminal Investigation Agency (AIC) and several forensic and explosive experts have been dispatched to the crime scene to analyze all possible evidence.
A few days ago and two weeks since the explosion, authorities found what appeared to be undetonated explosive devices on another ferry of the same company, Barcos Caribe , linked to two alleged frontmen of the former governor of the state, Roberto Borge – who is currently facing embezzlement and illicit enrichment charges.
According to the statements made by Quintana Roo Prosecutor, Miguel Ángel Pech, on local media, this second ship was 500m away from the Cozumel port and wasn't operating.
The ship in which the explosive devices detonated has already been secured by the authorities so they can continue with their investigation and establish the probable causes and people responsible for the incident.
