The artist Yammel Rodriguez is the only Mexican participating in the acrobatic and cabaret show " Swizzle Club " at the Roundhouse Theater in Camden , north of London , and what she likes the most is interacting with the public during her presentations.
"This is the first time that we start our tour in Europe , though we usually start touring in Australia . Now we are bringing an innovative show to London, something unlike anything people have seen before anywhere in the world," Rodriguez told in an interview with Notimex .
The Mexican, who is currently living in London, participated in the show " La Soirée ," which received an award in 2017 .
The "Swizzle Club" company combines cabaret, live music, acrobatics and dance with guest artists from New York, Belgium, Australia, and Mexico , among others.
Rodriguez began acting professionally seven years ago, but her love for acrobatics came when she went to a circus in Xalapa, Veracruz .
"Everything started when I saw a group of circus performers in Xalapa, Veracruz, and saw that they were juggling with an unicycle and that caught my attention. Once I returned to Mexico City , my hometown, I started taking air dance and flexibility classes," commented the artist.
In order to perfect her technique, she moved to Canada , where she received formal instruction, leading her to participate on stages in Dubai, Germany, Spain, Australia, New York, Paris, and London .
The show will be presented until August 26 in an old round train house turned into a theater where the musicians Pink Floyd and Jimi Hendrix used to play at the beginning of their career in the 60s.
