A young Mexican student, who was a member of the LGBTQIA+ community , was murdered in Jalisco. The news broke on social media.

University of Guadalajara dean Ricardo Villanueva confirmed the homicide of Jonathan Santos.

Social media users blamed the heinous crime on homophobia and demanded justice for Jonathan with the hashtags #JusticiaParaJonathanSantos and #NoMasHomofobia.

Jalisco authorities confirmed the murder of 18-year-old Jonathan Santos in Zapopan, Jalisco. He was shot dead.
