Lawmakers will fulfill the President’s dream

Everything is ready for lawmakers to start working to fulfill one of President López Obrador ’s dream and the central promise of his government. It’s expected that commissions in Congress will approve a reform to include welfare programs to the Constitution , including health services , pensions , scholarships , and aid for disabled people. Nevertheless, we’ve been told that something happened to this initiative, as people forgot to include that health care should be free. We’ve been told that the bill will have to be modified. Additionally, we’ve been told that the approval of the reform will take place soon since Morena and its allies control the l ower chamber . However, the President’s dream is complicated welfare programs would cost MXN $543,478 million.

Mexico vs. e-cigarettes

Now that imports of e-cigarettes are banned, restaurant and department store Sanborns contested the decision and although a Supreme Court minister will propose an amparo so that the store can sell these products but the panorama is not easy. In the initiative proposed by Javier Laynez Potisek , the store could continue to sell the e-cigarettes but it will have to face another legal challenge since President López Obrador issued a decree to ban the importation of electronic cigarettes ; therefore, the future of these devices is up in the air.

Will FSM replace Morena?

Today, the organization Social Force for Mexico ( FSM ), linked to the union leader Pedro Haces , is organizing a national assembly where it will formally request to be registered as a political party so that it can participate in the 2021 election . Moreover, Haces has been trying to make it seem like he’s close to the federal government and even invited the President to a public event. Some people think the FSM will become a satellite party for Morena but after so many internal conflicts , this organization could become the new Morena.

The President visits Tabasco

This weekend, President López Obrador will visit Tabasco , his home town. We’ve been told the president will visit Nacajuca , Tamulté de las Sabanas , Centla , and Macuspana . We’ve been told that during his visit, the Mexican President will meet with indigenous groups with whom he worked with decades ago.
