From August 17 to August 27 , National Polytechnic Institute ( IPN ) Planetarium “ Luis Enrique Erro ” ( PLEE ) will project in its digital immersion dome a recreation of the solar eclipse visible along a stretch of land about 70 miles ( 113 kilometers ) wide on August 21 . 14 North American states and Mexico City will be treated to this natural phenomenon.
Wilder Chicana Nuncebay
, head of the Science and Astronomy Department of the PLEE, explained that this video was filmed in the Production and Digital Animation Department of the planetarium. The video will attempt to reproduce the exact moment in which the Moon is located between the Earth and the Sun resulting in a partial or total darkening.
The video is divided into two parts and it will be projected at the end of each session. The first part will show relevant aspects of both, the partial eclipse in Mexico City and the total eclipse in the United States, along with some maps of its trajectory. The second part will be a scientific explanation of the phenomenon.
The scientific script was written by Wilder Chicana and Yuritzen Solache Ruiz , along with Irais Anguiano Blanco and Wendolyn Guerra Olea .
It is important to bear in mind that the PLEE will install two telescopes with filters to observe this world event , yet if the weather conditions are not favorable, in Alfredo Harp Helú's Auditorium , a video of the eclipse observed in Mexico on July 11, 1991 , will be projected.
