2020 has surely been a tough year for Cruz Azul as the cooperative has had to face several challenges related to its top directors. Now, Guillermo Álvarez Cuevas, who used to be Cruz Azul’s president, is wanted by Interpol after the international organization issued a red notice for Billy Álvarez, who is still a member of the Mexican Football Federation (FEMEXFUT) and Liga MX.

Billy Álvarez, whose whereabouts are unknown, is accused of alleged organized crime and alleged millionaire embezzlement and already has an arrest warrant against him.

Since the Clausura 2020 tournament was canceled, the situation of the Cruz Azul’s president has caused collateral damage inside the soccer club, which is currently under the sports direction of Jaime Ordiale, who first said he still had to report to Álvarez and who met some days ago with the opposition group, the Administration and Surveillance Councils of the Cooperative.
