In August , the dynamism of manufacturing and construction increased Mexico's industrial production , according to the National Institute of Statistics and Geography ( Instituto Nacional de Estadística y Geografía abbreviated Inegi ).
Mining production, electricity production, transmission, and distribution, piped water and gas supply, construction, and manufacturing increased 0.3% during August 2017, the highest rate since December 2015.
On an individual basis, the manufacturing industries increased 0.5% and the construction sector increased 0.3% while mining decreased 2.3% and electricity production, transmission, and distribution , along with water and gas supply by pipeline fell 0.5% compared to the previous month.
It should be noted that half of manufacturing activities reported a monthly increase in August such as basic metal industries ( 9.3% ) and petroleum and coal products ( 8.4% ) compared with the previous month.
However, in an annual comparison , Mexico's industrial production presented 0.6% decrease in August.
On an individual basis, mining ( -9.6% ), construction ( -1.5% ), and electricity production, transmission, and distribution , along with water and gas supply by pipeline ( -0.5% ) while manufacturing increased 3.1% compared to August 2016.
