The Historic Center of San Luís Potosí (SLP) was declared a World Heritage site by the UNESCO on March 8, 2018, during a ceremony held at the Autonomous University of San Luis Potosí.

The Historic Center, comprised of 42 streets, houses 1,500 buildings, including historic monuments that stand out due to conservation efforts made. There are several Baroque and Neoclassic constructions, and old manors made of pink limestone that have been transformed into museums, shops, and restaurants.

The Royal Inland Road (Camino Real de Tierra Adentro), also known as the Silver Road – of which San Luis Potosí is a part of – was entered into the World Heritage List in 2010. This road was used during the 16th and 19th centuries to transport silver from the mines in Zacatecas, San Luis and Guanajuato to the United States.
