The exhibition “ Guillermo del Toro: at home with monsters” (Guillermo del Toro: en casa con monstrous), will be inaugurated in Mexico on March 2019 , will be full of popular Mexican art, said the curator, Eugenio Caballero.
Eugenio Caballero
, who collaborated with Del Toro in Pan's Labyrinth , for which he won an Oscar in Production Design in 2007 , says that the exhibition will have a very particular view.
Some time ago, Del Toro had said that he was interested in including comics from El Santo, the Enmascarado de Plata, and Leyendas de la Colonia.
Caballero said that “there will be a lot of popular Mexican art, other graphics stuff like in Guillermo's previous exhibitions”. Caballero wouldn't reveal the number of pieces that will be part of the exhibition, and that for him “it is important that people relate the exhibition to Mexico and his childhood ”.
The exhibition will be inaugurated during the Guadalajara International Film Festival , in the Guadalajara University's Art Museum , and it will be available to the public for five months.
It will later be exhibited in Mexico City, in the San Carlos Museum.
Del Toro has said that the pieces in “At home with monsters” won't talk about his movies, but to understand that the way he narrates comes from his personal experiences”.
Caballero is about to travel to Venice, where he will present Alfonso Cuarón's Rome, which will be competing for the Golden Lion.
