Gael García Bernal to receive Hispanic Heritage Award

The Mexican actor, filmmaker, and producer will receive the Vision Award a month from now in Washington, DC.

Mexican actor, filmmaker, and producer, Gael García Bernal will receive the Vision Awards at the 30th Hispanic Heritage Awards given by the Hispanic Heritage Foundation (HHF).

The Hispanic Heritage Awards were created in the late 80s by The White House to celebrate the Hispanic Heritage Month in America and is considered one of the highest honors issued by the Latino community in recognition of Latino leaders aimed at "celebrating cultural pride."

In the words of José Antonio Tijerino, President, and CEO of the Hispanic Heritage Foundation, “The Hispanic Heritage Foundation is privileged to honor Gael García Bernal with the Vision Award for his tremendous talents but most importantly for serving as a role model and advocate for the Latin community,”.

He added that next September 14th, “The evening will be entertaining, meaningful and inspirational as we present America with the great value Latinos provide. It’s more important than ever to showcase visionary Latinos like Gael.”

Former recipients include opera star, Placido Domingo , novelists, Junot Díaz and Isabel Allende , as well as late Hollywood actor Anthony Quinn, among others.
