During this Holy Week vacation period in Mexico, the Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo museum in Mexico City (Museo Casa Estudio Diego Rivera y Frida Kahlo) will offer several activities, including the reopening of the Mexican painter’s studio where 20 photographs taken during her time living in the house will be put on display. Visitors will be able to dive deeper into the details and history of the house and museum, according to a press release.

One of the places where Frida Kahlo became inspired, lived, and experimented a creative process that led to the creation of some of her most iconic works was her studio, located in the interior of the building that the famous architect Juan O’Gorman built between 1931 and 1932 .

Frida Kahlo’s studio features a collection of 20 photographs by Leo Matiz, Lucienne Bloch, Nickolas Muray, the Mayo brothers and Guillermo Kahlo , among other photographers. The collection is meant to illustrate the relationship between the artist and the architectural space she inhabited between 1934 and 1939

Visitors will be able to enjoy guided tours and learn the details of this iconic space in the country’s capital.

In 1931, Juan O’Gorman designed one of the first functionalist structures in Latin America, a building that would later become the home of Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo.

The venue, presented by the National Institute of Fine Arts , will remain open throughout the week, including Thursday and Friday.
