A federal judge has indefinitely halted the arrest of Emilio Lozoya, the former Pemex chief , who has been accused of money laundering, criminal association, and fraud in regards to the Odebrecht case.
The Fourteenth Judge of Amparo District in Judicial Matters in Mexico City granted Lozoya the definitive suspension of the amparo he requested against the arrest warrant issued by an arraignment judge after being accused of receiving bribe money from Brazilian construction company Odebrecht , in exchange of profitable government contracts .
Nevertheless, the crimes Lozoya is accused of do not require preventive custody , therefore, he can face the accusations while free.
Moreover, in connection with the Odebrech case , authorities issued arrest warrants against Lozoya's family members , including Gilda Susana , his sister; his mother Gilda Margarita Austin y Solís de Lozoya; his wife Marielle Helene Eckes , and Nelly Maritza Aguilera Concha.
Aguilera Concha
allegedly sold Marielle Helene Eckes a home in Ixtapa Zihuatanejo, Guerrero , for USD $1,900,000; according to the Attorney General's Office , the money used for the purchase was the bribe money Odebrecht gave to Lozoya.
Yesterday, Emilio Lozoya's mother, Gilda Austin , was arrested by the Interpol in Germany , after Mexican authorities issued an arrest warrant against her.
