The efficient allies of AMLO
The political alliance between Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) and the family of Elba Esther Gordillo is starting to bear fruit. During the vital months of the electoral campaigns – between March and June – René Fujiwara and Fernando González , grandson and son-in-law of the teacher, will hold a National Congress for the teacher's in Guelatao, Oaxaca , with the attendance of Mr. Andrés Manuel, aspiring presidential candidate of the left National Regeneration Party (MORENA). We're told Mr. René and Mr. Fernando are in charge of inviting leaders of the National Teacher's Union so they crowd the venue. All within the framework of the so-called Social Progressive Networks. Will the union leaders, led by Juan Díaz de la Torre, organize something similar for the candidate they're supporting?
The new spokesman of the INE
Mr. Lorenzo Córdova , president of the National Electoral Institute (INE), seems to have a new volunteer spokesman. An employee of the Institute is using his Twitter account to discredit the information published on sensitive issues, such as cases of sexual harassment in the Institute or the complaint filed by an independent candidate on the lack of attention given to a previous complaint – also filed by them – regarding the use of fake ID's by other independent candidates. The question here is if this spokesman has accepted the task of his own free will or if Mr. Lorenzo is giving him a little push.
The rewards of the Front
The main negotiators of the Citizen's Front for Mexico, formed by the conservative National Action Party (PAN), left Democratic Revolution Party (PRD), and the center-left Citizen's Movement Party (MC), have already secured a place to continue their political careers, according to our sources, We're told that the once general secretary of the PRD, Beatríz Mojica , is very close to becoming a senator, and in Guerrero, her native land, there are several billboards with her face on them. Similarly, we've been told there are many possibilities to see the current national leader of the PAN, Damián Zepeda , in a legislative seat; according to some versions, Zepeda could even manage to become the party coordinator. It's worth mentioning that the main architects of the Front, Alejandra Barrales and Ricardo Anaya , have already received their reward.
Who'll get to keep César Duarte?
Mexico's Office of the Attorney General (PGR) will submit this Friday two new extradition requests for the former Chihuahua Governor, César Duarte . We're told the United States has already found the former governor and it will be impossible for him to fall off their radar. It's just a matter of the judges over there approving the request so they can rope him in, just like in classical Westerns. But, who'll get to keep him? The Chihuahua authorities or the Office of the Attorney General? This remains to be seen, as well as whether the show will take place before the July election.
