The measures to tackle illegal immigration implemented by Donald Trump are motivated by intolerance and disregard solutions that respect human rights or that are the result of a consensus.

A year ago, the photographs of migrant children i nside a detention center in Texas , crying because they had been separated from their parents, sparked outrage all over the world. Now, a year later, U.S. President Donald Trump announced that his administration will not comply with a judicial agreement that limits the detention of families with small children to 20 days. Trump 's plan is to keep migrant children and their parents at detention center s while their asylum requests are processed.

This attack perpetrated by the U.S. President was influenced by his electoral campaign for the 2020 election . In order to reach his electoral base , Trump is spreading fear and hate against those who flee their countries in a quest for a better life and future for them and their families . The electoral race will be over in less than a year but the seeds of racism and discrimination will have already blossomed among the U.S. society .

Furthermore, in his speeches, Trump never mentions the contributions made by migrants to the U.S. economy from sectors such as agriculture , manufacture , and services . Business leaders benefit by hiring immigrants and paying them low wages , despite being as productive as U.S. workers . Besides, immigrants contribute to the economic dynamism through tax contribution and the consumption of goods.

Nevertheless, the mistreatment and violations of international agreements in regards to migration are not dissuading migrants . Thousands of people from Central America and other regions would rather risk their lives than staying in countries plagued by violence and poverty .

's actions and rhetoric have sparked criticism from Democrats , who claim he has no limits. Until now, the Supreme Court has halted some of his plans but abroad, the international community hasn't come together to propose different strategies to deal with undocumented migration . It is clear that the U.S. government has to take a different path because thousands of lives are at risk .
