Mexican actor Diego Luna
received the Distinguished Artist Award at the International Society for the Performing Arts (ISPA) congress in Guadalajara, Mexico .
Holding back tears, the beloved actor dedicated the award to his father and children: “I would like to share this with my father and the two human beings I love most: Jerónimo and Fiona. Paternity is very much like a theatrical experience, it is ephemeral, it generates unique connections that aren’t shared with anyone else...” said the actor during his acceptance speech.
The International Music Fair (FIMPRO) in Guadalajara was the venue chosen to host the ISPA congress for five days, at the end of which Luna was decorated for his long artistic career, notably as a theater actor.
“I am very excited to receive this award. Theater is and always has been my home, it is where I have found and forged the deepest bonds of my life,” he commented.
His father, the stage designer Alejandro Luna , was also decorated with the Distinguished Artist Award in 2004.
“This award is very important to me because it was given to my dad, and it was thanks to my dad that I learned about theater,” he stated.
