DiDi
, the ride-hailing service , will start operating in Mexico City today and will be between 5% and 8% cheaper than Uber and Cabify , said P ablo Mondragón , DiDi's operation leader in Mexico City .
“We're affordable in all the areas we operate in, depending on the characteristics of each market ; specifically for Mexico City , with conditions or constant changes we are looking to be between 5% and 8% more affordable than our competitors ,” said Mondragón during a press conference.
DiDi
will offer discounts , and to celebrate its launch in Mexico City , the company is offering seven different coupons worth MXN $500, that will be valid for 10 days.
After recruiting drivers for 13 weeks, DiDi will compete with the other platforms available in Mexico City.

explained that DiDi has been available in Toluca since April, and was also launched in Monterrey and Guadalajara .
It will be launched in Chihuahua , Puebla , Mexicali , Mérida , and Tijuana .
In regards to drivers, Mondragón said that they will pay a service rate of 10%, less than the 20% and 25% charged by its competitors . The drivers can also use other platforms such as Uber and Cabify .
For now, the platform accepts credit and debit cards.
