The Solar Field Coahuila project was completed this March 12, in the northern city of Matamoros, Coahuila, with an investment of MXN$ 800 million.

The solar field has a total of 76,400 solar panels, installed across 40 hectares, and is expected to generate 20 million kilowatts a year , reducing power price by 15% which local and state governments will use for street lighting, its agencies and public schools.

The Governor of the state, Miguel Riquelme , said this was a step into a green era for Coahuila and the response to President Peña Nieto's call to have 35% of Mexico's electricity be produced through clean energy by 2024.

“Coahuila is a state that's all in on renewable energy, biotechnology, information technology, and space engineering. This is the future of our state,” said Governor Riquelme.

For his part, Carlos Isorna Suárez, member of the Executive Board of Solar Field Coahuila, stated Coahuila is an attractive destination for renewable energy projects due to its geographic characteristics and infrastructure quality.
