Chinese citizen tests negative for 2019-nCoV in Mexico City

Any Chinese person or tourist who recently visited China will be classified as a possible 2019-nCoV case

On February 7, Mexico’s Health Ministry announced that any Chinese person or tourist who visited China in the last two weeks will be classified as a possible case.

The National Committee for Epidemiological Monitoring ( ) made the decision after the World Health Organization released more information in regards to the in China .

Until now, Mexican authorities haven’t confirmed a case in Mexico and the 10 suspected cases have tested negative. However, the Health Ministry reported a new possible case in Mexico City on February 9, which is being investigated.

According to reports, the possible case is a 37-year-old Chinese man who resides in Mexico City . The man recently traveled to Baotao , China and started to feel sick on February 7, however, he is stable.

On February 10 , the Health Ministry informed that the suspected COVID-19 case in Mexico City tested negative and confirmed that this case is now with the other 10 that were ruled out since the beginning of the outbreak .

Nevertheless, health authorities are still looking for suspected cases in the country by following the corresponding protocols for people of any age that present acute respiratory disease and that have the antecedent of traveling to or staying in China , as well as those people who have been in touch with a confirmed case or an investigated case up to 14 days before the beginning of the symptoms.

Until February 10 , there are 40,554 confirmed novel coronavirus cases and over 1,000 deaths all over the world.
