Catfight at the PAN over $300 million
Although they had one of the worst elections in their history, the PAN bench in the Chamber of deputies will have a budget of MXN $300 million per year. These resources are one of the reasons why there is an internal fight in the inside of the next PAN bench, to see who is the new coordinator in San Lázaro . We're told that Jorge Romero , a legislator close to the former presidential candidate, Ricardo Anaya , has been seen in San Lázaro, and many associate his presence there with the possibility of him being the next parliamentary coordinator, and this way the key positions will be taken by those close to Anaya . Marko Cortés would be the PAN president , Damián Zepeda the senators' coordinato r and Jorge Romero the federal deputies' coordinator.
1.8 million bureaucrats fear AMLO
For 1.8 million bureaucrats it's not clear how the migration of the secretariats and several public organisms will be yet, as the virtual President-elect has said. That's why in the bureaucracy , conformed by 89 syndicates, there's fear . First of all, they don't know if it will be a quick transition, because many wouldn't have the intention of changing their residency or the money to buy another house. We're told that the syndicate insists that healthcare, education, and decent homes should be given to the workers , but mostly, that the migration is made partially . For now, there haven't been work meetings with the syndicates' leaders , that's why anxiety is invading almost 1.8 million federal employees. One of their doubts is that if they can't or they don't want to live elsewhere , will they be fired or at least relocated.
Calmness in the transition home
By the way, in Andrés Manuel López Obrador's transition home everything is quiet, as the President-elect has mysteriously escaped to the Lacandona jungle , this Saturday was pretty quiet in the transition home. Before noon, around five people came in to deliver their resumes and letters to the next President, but that's it. Since July 1st the pilgrimage to the Chihuahua street has been intense . People who want to patent a “discovery” or people who ask for help with their pension attend. This week a thief unluckily tried to steal a car a few steps from the famous home and was arrested. Sometimes López Obrador's team has to give people psychological support to those who arrive searching for an answer. But yesterday it was all calmness.
The 1968 50th anniversary spreads fears
We're told that the 1968 student movement's 50th anniversary has motivated a series of activities in Universities , led by members of the movement . Nevertheless, some sectors are warning about fears over bringing up certain aspects that were forgotten . There are many doubts left about the Tlatelolco massacre , for example, which creates certain concerns, especially now that the “truth commissions” are starting to appear and they will work as the mechanism to clarify these events , and we're only 2 months away from the anniversary .
