Below zero temperatures expected in 15 states of Mexico

The Mexican Meteorological Service (SNM) has predicted temperatures below zero degrees Celsius in fifteen states of the country due to the impact of cold front 11 and the instability its polar air mass registered at high atmospheric altitudes.

The states at risk of frost are the northern and central states of Chihuahua, Coahuila, Nuevo León, San Luis Potosí, Aguascalientes, Zacatecas, Durango, Jalisco, Michoacán, Guanajuato, Querétaro, Hidalgo, Puebla, Tlaxcala, and State of Mexico .

Likewise, temperatures ranging from 0 to 5°C with probability of frost are predicted for the states of Sonora, Tamaulipas, Veracruz, Mexico City, Morelos and Oaxaca.

A north wind with gusts over 70 km/h is expected in the region of the Gulf of Tehuantepec and up to 60 km/h in the Yucantán Penninsula – an atmospheric condition expected to decrease by the afternoon.

The population is asked to wear warm clothes and pay close attention to children and the elderly.

Given the weather conditions in the country and low temperatures, fog banks may form in several regions, reason why it is recommended to drive carefully with the lights on and follow all traffic signs.
