Bank headquarters in Mexico City evacuated due to threats

The Mexican headquarters of BBVA bank , located in the capital’s tallest skyscraper , were evacuated today around midday due to what the bank said were two anonymous emails threatening violent acts against its corporate offices .

In a statement, BBVA said it did not believe the threats were real but evacuated the tower and another Mexico City office as a precaution.

Bancomer informa que el día de hoy recibió correos anónimos que comprometían a sus dos sedes corporativas en la Ciudad de México. Por protocolo de seguridad y de forma preventiva, se realizó la evacuación de Torre Bancomer y Parques Bancomer.

The bank said its branches will continue to operate normally.

La @SSP_CDMX, @SGIRPC_CDMX y @PGJDF_CDMX se encuentran en coordinación con el área de Seguridad Institucional de Bancomer para atender las necesidades de la evacuación preventiva y revisión de sus dos sedes; así como en las investigaciones que se deriven. Estaremos informando.
