And the winner of the electoral contest is…

Everything is ready to receive 89 million Mexicans at polling stations. We've had 90 days of campaigns and a whole preliminary process thus now it's up to the citizens to decide. Without a doubt, there was a lot of violence. However, the election of the next President of Mexico has more than one at the edge of their seats. Yet there is also the matter of the Congress , with 500 deputies and 128 senators (in both elected through proportional representation and relative majority) in addition to eight governors and the Mayor of Mexico City. So, tonight, the winner of the presidential contest is…

In these days of campaign bans, the campaign team of Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) held a meeting behind closed doors to review the details for today's election. We've been told that the main concern of the team – like in previous elections – is that there won't be enough coalition representatives to cover all polling stations, as well as the insecurity which threatens certain states. Our sources say that despite they have approved lineups for electoral battles, an excessive trust would go amiss. Thus in the last days, they decided to oil their machine and prevent surprises, like the ones they lived in the elections of 2006 and 2012.

The expenses of the Congress

This Sunday afternoon at six o'clock, voters will have already voted for federal deputies as well as senators, and since yesterday the work of rebuilding a space for their well-being began. The Upper Chamber has already terminated hundreds of collaborators who have no more benefits than being paid a simple wage, and the 128 offices to be occupied by those elected today are already empty and will be refitted to welcome the new members of the Congress and representatives of the people. San Lázaro, of course, couldn't fall behind, especially because they have “rearranged” certain spaces to locate deputies victims of last September earthquakes…

The purge in the AN

Yesterday we told you the Night of the Long Knives will come to the National Action Party ( PAN ) after a video from Ricardo Anaya was streamed, in which he spoke of a group “lurking” in the shadows, ready to take the reigns of the party “by force.” Actually, this is just the tip of the iceberg. Yesterday, the party decided to expel Senators Ernesto Cordero and Jorge Luis Lavalle , as well as Eufrosina Cruz. We've been told that the expected fratricide is underway. And we've been told that amongst the ranks of the Democratic Revolution Party (PRD), the collision course is also expected to be violent. We'll have to wait and see how political parties settle the differences arising from their victories and defeats but this show will be macabre, don't you doubt it. Have your popcorn in hand.
