Mexico’s “ Sembrando Vida ” (Sowing Life) Program presented by President-elect Andrés Manuel López Obrador will begin in 2019 , generating 220 thousand jobs in the states of Chiapas, Veracruz, Tabasco, and Campeche . The affiliated growers will be offered a wage of 5,000 pesos a month .

, as well as the elected governors of Veracruz, Tabasco, and Chiapas were present at the presentation of the program, in which the Welfare Secretary, María Luisa Albores , explained that the goal was to plant one million fruit and timber trees in 19 states of the country , giving permanent jobs to 400,000 people .
According to the program, growers will be paid 4,500 pesos a month while another 500 will be put in a savings fund to support local communities .
During the meeting, the environmental expert Víctor Manuel Toledo rejected the use of transgenic maize and soy products .
Most species to be planted are coffee, cocoa, maize, mahogany, cinnamon, and agave , among others.
