AMLO-Peña's honeymoon went sour

It was officially announced that Andrés Manuel López Obrador , virtual President-elect, won't attend the Pacific Alliance Summit with current President , Enrique Peña Nieto because he hasn't received an official certificate from the Electoral Tribunal yet . Nevertheless, we're told that inside López Obrador's team there's talk of another reason, mainly about the INE fining Morena , but also how upsetting it was that Peña Nieto increased the government's debt by US $10, 000 million just 5 days ago... just 4 months before the PRI leaves the presidency . A debt that will be paid by López Obrador's administration . Is the honeymoon that began at the Palacio Nacional over a month ago over? Perhaps the opening of yesterday's conference was a sign, as AMLO said that they will cut off “all the privileges that exist in the government”.

After the Morena-PT-PES coalition won 50 municipalities and the majority of the State of Mexico Congress , with 52 seats, we're told that the PRI governor, Alfredo del Mazo , is working to have , somehow, the local Chamber of Deputies on his side . One of his options is Higinio Martínez, head of the Politic Action Group , as well as Maurilio Hernández, who is thought to have ties to the PRI . In the next months, we will see how persuasive the governor can be , who ended up between a Morena-led federal government and a Morena-led state congress, after the July 1st election.

A woman on the way to lead the Senate

One of the rules that has dominated the political forces in Congress is that the party that leads one the chambers can't be the leader of the other chamber too , and as Porfirio Muñoz Ledo is the nominee to lead the Chamber of Deputies , it seems like he will be the one to place the presidential sash on López Obrador, so the Senate's president can't be a Morena member. We're told that this is why the logical thing would be that a woman , from the PAN (the second force in the Senate ), takes that position. The stars aligned in favor of a woman: the former presidential candidate, Josefina Vázquez Mota , unless Rafael Moreno Valle or Gustavo Madero want to fight her.

on the Morena bench on the Senate accomplished its first 2 agreements that the bench is going to represent: on one hand, to sit down and study what is being a senator about for 3 day s, and on the other, to create a committee to study how they will adjust to the austerity López Obrador is demanding from them and others. The attendance of those workshop about legislative matters will be a test , we're told, about the interest the Morena members have in fulfilling the tasks they were elected to carry out.
